Meet our 2018-2019 Florence Frager Winners

The April Civic Orchestra concert is always a special one as it showcases the young talents of tomorrow. Program Notes for Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar

In 1898, after a hard day of teaching fiddle, Edward Elgar, a young musician from the English Midlands, relaxed by improvising melodies on the piano for the entertainment of his wife, Caroline. She was so intrigued by one of the themes that Edward improvised a number of variations on it, each illustrating the personality of someone the Elgars knew. Florence Frager Winners 2017-2018

The Civic is pleased to present the winners of the 2017-18 Florence Frager Young Artist Competition on Sunday, April 22 at 3 PM.  Violist Molly Prow will play Romance for Viola and Orchestra by Max Bruch, and violinist Theo Bockhorst will play the final movement of Edouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole. Volunteer Opportunities with the Civic

Volunteer opportunities with St. Louis Civic Orchestra The orchestra is looking for volunteers to help with ushering for concerts as well as serving refreshments at intermission, both of which can’t be easily done by orchestra members.
