“The concert was wonderful! And the program notes… Wow! How did you get your hands on those?” We in the Civic have heard comments like this time and again from friends in the audience. I’ll tell you how we get our hands on such excellent program notes: our very own keyboardist, William F. Long generously researches and writes them.
Now it’s possible to read up ahead of time! Here is a sneak preview of two of the works the Civic will present on Saturday, November 5th at 7 PM at the Purser Center.
If you missed the live interview with Stephanie Berg and April Dannelly-Schenck about our concert on Feb. 20, you can listen to a recording here!
The St. Louis Civic Orchestra is pleased to present the 2015-2016 Florence Frager Young Artist Competition!
The competition, which started in the mid-70s and was named after a member’s mother in 1993, has allowed the Civic to support young talent in the community and showcase them with a full symphonic orchestra for over 40 years.
In addition to an honorarium, the winner(s) perform with the orchestra at our spring scholarship concert, which this year will be on April 17, 2016.
Each year, our judges face a difficult decision after hearing so many local, talented musicians. If you know of any budding young artists, please pass the information about our competition along!
